Kanteen didn't begin in a corporate boardroom or a traditional culinary school. It began on a badminton court — where Chef Dinesh and Vishwas found a shared, relentless obsession with excellence.
in 2022, Chef Dinesh launched a signature5-Course Culinary Journey for Friday Night Dinners that quickly became a phenomenon across the Bay Area. The flavors were so bold, the vision so clear, that Vishwas — weeks away from a high-stakes finance career after his Wharton MBA — made a radical choice. He walked away from the boardroom to build Kanteen.
That decision — to choose craft over comfort — is the DNA of everything we do.
What began as an intimate culinary concept has evolved into the West Coast's most trusted partner for high-complexity, large-scale celebrations — from corporate summits in San Francisco to grand wedding receptions in Los Angeles and beyond.
Today Kanteen operates three verticals: flagship event catering, VARQ Sweets (artisanal Indian confections), and Sproutly, a ready-to-eat healthy meal service — all built on the same obsessive commitment to quality.
